The Newcons project delivered an updated FreeBSD console driver with Unicode support and improved support for graphics modes. This improved interoperability with X11 and Kernel Mode Setting (KMS) graphics drivers.
This project was integrated, with an initial release in FreeBSD 10.1. Additional improvements to the new console infrastructure are ongoing.
